Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a disaster situation - which is triggered by mass casualty, extensive property destruction, and halt to economic activities and everyday existence for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, known locally as Tino, devastated the heavily populated island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and washing automobiles along avenues.
Many thousands of people were forced to evacuate, while some are sheltering in emergency shelters.
